يتناول هذا البحث الديانة المسيحية في بلاد المغرب قبل الفتح الإسلامي، ومعيقات انتشارها بشكل واسع، على الرغم من الجهود التي بذلت من قبل رجال الدين المسيحي، فقد ارتبطت المقاومة في بلاد المغرب بالديانة المسيحية عندما كانت السلطات الرومانية تدين بالوثنية، التي كانت تفرضها على جميع السكان، في الوقت الذي كان فيه اتباع الديانة المسيحية هم الأضعف في الصراع مع الإمبراطورية الرومانية، التي نكلت بهم، مما أدى الى ظهور حركات تضامن مع ضحايا العنف الروماني، ومع بداية القرن الرابع الميلادي اعتنقت السلطات الرومانية الديانة المسيحية، وبذلت جهود كبيرة لنشر الديانة المسيحية، وأباحت لنفسها التدخل في شؤون الكنيسة لتغليب الطرف الذي يخدمها في الحفاظ على التوازن في البلاد وتستخدمه كوسيلة دعاية عند الحاجة الى ذلك، لكن فيما بعد تطورت المقاومة للدولة الرومانية بظهور الحركة الدوناتية، التي ارتبطت بمحيطها المغربي، وتحالفت مع الثوار الفلاحين اللذين ارهقتهم الدولة بالضرائب، وضاقت بهم السبل جراء تضييق الخناق عليهم من قبل الملاكين الرومان، اللذين حرموهم من اراضيهم التي تحولوا فيها الى عمال موسميين خاضعين للسيد الاقطاعي الروماني.} }
