This is a serious percentage compared to 13-16% Psychologist (Phillips KA, 2009, p. 19). The importance of the subject is that the occurrence of this disorder leads the individual to show symptoms that are lighter, loss of self-confidence, loneliness and psychological trauma, and most of them reach home and isolation, even suicide (Phillips K.A., 2009, p.20). The victims exhibit symptoms such as deformity of the concept of beauty, dysfunction of memory, forced obsession, and social stigma. The term stigma originally refers to a sign that the Greeks placed on slaves to facilitate their distinction from the free. This term in current usage refers to shame or impotence. The stigma can be external (discrimination, bias) or internal (self-stigmatization) or, as is often the case, a combination of both. Knowing that one has been called a mental illness can cause both internal and external stigma. In response to social stigmatization, people with mental problems may be involved in public attitudes and expose themselves to embarrassment or shame to the point of hiding their symptoms and refraining from seeking treatment. Stigma can also reduce their access to resources and opportunities (such as housing and employment). They also lead to self-esteem decline, increased isolation, despair, and relapse (Sarason & Sarason, 2009, p. 7).

منَ المشكلاتِ السلوكيَّةِ المهمَّةِ إضطرابُ التشوُّهِ الجسميِّ، إذْ تُشيرُ دراساتُ الإنتشارِ إلى أنَّ نسبةَ إنتشارهِ بينَ طلبةِ الجامعةِ في حدودِ (2,2-13%), وهيَ نسبةٌ خطيرةٌ إذا ما قُورنتْ بنسبةِ الـ(13-16%) الموجودةِ لدى الراقدينَ في مستشفياتِ الطبِّ النفسيِّ (Phillips K.A.,2009,p. 19). وتبرزُ أهميَّةُ الموضوعِ في أنَّ الإصابةَ بهذا الإضطرابِ تدفعُ الفردَ إلى إظهار ِأعراضٍ أخفُّها فقدانُ الثقةِ بالنفسِ والإنعزالِ والغمِّ النفسيِّ، وأشدُّها يصلُ إلى ملازمةِ البيتِ والإنعزاليَّةِ, بلْ وحتّى الإنتحارِ (Phillips K.A.,2009, p. 20). ويُظِهرُ المصابونَ إعراضاً منْ قبيلِ تشوُّهِ مفهومِ الجمالِ, وإختلالِ وظيفةِ الذاكرةِ, والوساوسِ القسريَّةِ، ناهيكَ عنْ مشاعرِ الوصمةِ الإجتماعيَّةِ. ويُشيرُ مصطلحُ الوَصمةِ stigma في الأصلِ إلى علامةٍ كانَ الإغريقُ يضعونها على العبيدِ لتسهيلِ تمييزهم عنْ الأحرارِ. وتُشيرُ هذهِ المفردةُ في الإستعمالِ الدارجِ حاليَّاً إلى العارِ أو العجزِ. ويمكنُ أنْ يكونَ إطلاقُ الوصمةِ خارجيَّاً (التمييزُ، التحيُّزُ) أو داخليَّاً (وصْمُ الذاتِ) أو أنْ يكونَ، كما هوَ الحالُ غالباً ،مزيجاً منَ الإثنينِ. ومعرفةُ أنَّ المرءَ قدْ لُقِّبَ بالمرضِ عقليَّاً منْ شأنها التسبُّبُ بكلٍّ منَ الوصمةِ الداخليَّةِ والخارجيَّةِ. وإستجابةً للوصمةِ الإجتماعيَّةِ، ربما يستدخلُ ذوو المشكلاتِ العقليَّةِ الإتجاهاتَ العامَّةَ فيُضحونَ شديدي الحرجِ أو الخزي إلى حدٍّ يدفعهمْ لإخفاءِ أعراضهم والإحجامِ عنْ طلبِ العلاجِ. كما يمكنُ للوصمةِ أنْ تقلِّلَ إمكانيَّةَ وصولهم إلى المواردِ والفرصِ (منْ قبيلِ الإسكانِ والتوظيفِ). كما أنَّها تؤدّي إلى إنحطاطِ تقديرِ الذاتِ، وزيادةِ العزلةِ، واليأسِ، والإنتكاسِ (Sarason & Sarason, 2009, p. 7).} }
