One of the most important ancient water systems used in Palestine, along with the Silwan and Al-Jib (Jerusalem), Tall al-Mutasallem (Megiddo), Tel Waqas (Tall al-Qudah, Hazor) and Tall Al Gazar (Gezer). The tunnel was used since the Late Bronze Age until the end of Ottoman rule. The researchers rely on the field documentation and the study of the books of travelers and European scholars. يهدِفُ هذا البحث إلى تسليط الضوء على نفق خربة بلعمة، الذي يقع جنوب مدينة جنين. ويُعد أحد أهم أنظمة المياه المُستخدمة في فلسطين قديماً إلى جانب كل من نفق سلوان والجيب، وتل المتسلم (مجدو)، وتل وقاص (تل القدح، حاصور) وتل الجزر (أبو شوشة). واستُخدم النفق منذ العصر البرونزيّ المتأخر حتى نهاية الحكم العثمانيّ. ويعتمد الباحثان في إعداد دراستهما على التوثيق الميدانيّ ودراسة كتب الرحالة والدارسين الأوروبيين. وقد أُجريت في النفق تنقيبات أثريّة انقاذيّة –بإشراف علمي فلسطيني- توصلت إلى اكتشاف أجزاءٍ من النفق خلال موسمين من العمل الأثري في الأعوام 1996 و1997. وقامت دائرة الآثار الفلسطينية عام ER -
