In particular, patients with type 1 diabetes who require strict control of blood glucose because they have insulin production insufficient. In this paper, the Second Order Sliding Mode Controller (SOSMC) depending on Super Twisting Algorithm (STA) has suggested to control the blood glucose levels of humans and regulate it. The Bergman Minimal (BEM) is the mathematical model explaining the dynamics behavior of blood glucose concentration. The parameters of the suggested SOSMC have optimized by using Chaotic Particle Swarm Optimization (CPSO) algorithm. The simulation part has done to validate the efficiency of the suggested controller depending on MATLAB / Simulink. Also, the SOSMC controller scheme has implemented by Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and downloaded to the Spartan-6 (XC6SLX45T-3FGG484) board. The performance results obtained for the suggested controller in calculating the insulin infusion intensity for different patients indicate its efficacy and robustness in controlling blood glucose levels for type 1 diabetes.
