TY - JOUR ID - TI - Comparing of the uranium concentration in tap water samplesat Al-Manathera and Al-Herra Regions of Al-Najaf, Iraq AU - Ali Abid Abojassim*, Hassan Abd-Ulzahra Mohammed PY - 2017 VL - 3 IS - 3 SP - 111 EP - 118 JO - Karbala International Journal of Modern Science مجلة كربلاء العالمية للعلوم الحديثة SN - 2405609X 24056103 AB - In this work, uranium concentrations and annual effective dose in tap water samples for Al-Manathera and Al-Herra Regions ofAl-Najaf, Iraq were determined using a solid-state nuclear track detector (CR-39 detector). Furthermore, we determined theuranium isotopes (238U,235U and234U) for all tap water samples under study. The tap water samples are collected nearly from allregions of Al-Manathera and Al-Herra for 22 regions. Thus, the total studied samples are 40. The results indicate that, the averagevalues of uranium concentrations and the annual effective dose in Al-Manathera were larger than the average value at Al-HerraRegions. We concluded that the average value of the uranium concentrations and total average of the annual effective dose intap waters samples under study were lower than the recommended value of ICRP (1.9mg/l) and 1 mSv respectively. Therefore, mostof the samples could be used without any healthy risk depending on the level of natural uranium concentrations.
