While the drive for blood donation lingers, there is need for effective and efficient management of available blood in Iraqi blood banking systems. Moreover, inherent danger of transfusing wrong blood types to patients, unnecessary importation of blood units from external sources, and wastage of blood products due to non-usage that led to develop mathematical models and techniques for effective handling of blood distribution among available blood types in order to minimize wastages and importation from external sources, and we take in consideration to keep a sufficient amount of O+ as it is the general donor for any emergency case, and this will rise the performance of blood transfusion, We propose a PSO-based solution and Analytic hierarchy Process also to address this challenge, the results obtained show the efficiency of the proposed model with no blood units wasted and very low importation from outside bank, just in necessary cases in order to reorder the inventory.
