Iron and zinc absorption is usually reduced in celiac patients making every kind of oral treatment unhelpful because of malasorption. The present review study aimed to evaluate the level of some trace elements that have important functions in the human body in celiac patients who consume gluten and abstain from consummting it, and to compare them with healthy ones, and to see the benefit of the gluten free diet. Serum iron (Fe+2) and zinc (Zn+2) levels were lower in patient with celiac disease.
