Democrats have the upper hand in government, and at other times the dictatorial military rule, which led to the political instability of Sudan and the failure to find a solution to the problem between the south and the north. American, Chinese and Canadian oil producers in the Sudanese issue, which precipitated the conclusion of the Machakos agreement in 2002, and then the Naivasha agreement in 2005, which granted the southerners the right to self-determination and led to the division of Sudan and the separation of the south from the north of Sudan, and the emergence of the state of South Sudan.

نال السودان استقلاله في 1 كانون الثاني 1956، الا ان هذا البلد قد تعرض الى عدم الاستقرار سياسيا نتيجة لما زرعه الاستعمار البريطاني فيه مما ادى الى تغير في انظمة الحكم فتارة يكون للحكم المدني الديمقراطي اليد الطولى في الحكم وتارة اخرى يكون للحكم العسكري الدكتاتوري، الامر الذي ادى الى عدم استقرار السودان سياسيا وعدم ايجاد حل للمشكلة بين الجنوب والشمال، وكان لاكتشاف النفط في السودان الاثر الكبير في تأجيج الصراع بين الجنوب والشمال وتدخل القوى الاجنبية والاقليمية فضلا عن الشركات النفطية الامريكية والصينية والكندية في الشأن السوداني الامر الذي عجل في عقد اتفاق مشاكوس 2002، ثم اتفاق نيفاشا عام 2005، الذي اقر للجنوبيين حق تقرير المصير وادى الى تقسيم السودان وفصل الجنوب عن الشمال السوداني، وظهور دولة جنوب السودان.
