A special questionnaire was designed by the investigators to include information concerning demographic characters such as age, gender, residence. Serum hepatitis B Antigen (HBsAg), anti- HCV and anti–HIV were tested by commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits. We included all blood donors. Results: The majority of cases (more than 80%) were from rural area. The percentage of donors infected with HBV, HCV were 13.3%, 11.1% respectively and zero for HIV. All cases infected with HBV and HCV were in male donors.Conclusion: Sero-prevalence of HBV, HCV are 1.5%, 1% respectively and zero for HIV among asymptomatic blood donors in the national center of blood transfusion in Baghdad, during the period of the study.Keywords: Blood donors, Hepatitis Virus, HIV.

هدف الدراسة:اجل تحديد نسبة شيوع التهاب الكبد الفايروسي نوع ب ونوع س وفيروس نقص المناعة المكتسبالطرق : عبر دراسة لحالات متسلسلة في المركز الوطني لنقل الدم في بغداد للفترة من تشرين الثاني 2003 الى حزيران 2004.النتائج: غالبية الحالات (اكثر من 80%) من المناطق الحضرية. نسبة المتبرعين ولهم تاريخ نقل دم المصابين بـ التهاب الكبد الفيروسي نوع ب ونوع س هي 13.3% و 11.1% على التوالي وصفر لفيروس نقص المناعة المكتسبة. كل الحالات المصابة هي من الذكورالاستنتاجات : نستنتج من هذه الدراسة ان نسبة شيوع التهاب الكبد الفيروسي نوع ب وس هي 1.5% و 1% على التوالي وصفر لفيروس نقص المناعة المكتسبة في المركز الوطني لنقل الدم في بغداد خلال فترة الدراسة.
