Fraud detecting require necessity of indications the possibility of its existence. Here, Benford’s law can play an important role in direct the light towards the possibility of the existence of financial fraud in the accounting records of the company, which provides the required effort and time for detect fraud and prevent it.

يتضمن الاحتيال افعالا تنطوي على ممارسة الخداع من قبل اطراف متعددة داخل وخارج الشركات بقصد الحصول على منافع اقتصادية مقابل الحاق الضرر بتلك الشركات، إذ يتم ارتكاب عمليات الاحتيال عند توافر ثلاثة عوامل تتمثل بوجود الفرص والدوافع والتبرير، وان اكتشاف عمليات الاحتيال يرتبط بضرورة وجود مؤشرات تدل على احتمالية وجوده. وهنا يلعب قانون بنفورد دورا مهما في توجيه الضوء نحو احتمالية وجود عمليات الاحتيال المالي ضمن السجلات المحاسبية للشركة وهو ما يوفر الجهد والوقت الازم لاكتشاف عمليات الاحتيال والحد منه.
