ارتبط الفاطميون مع الصليحيون في اليمن بروابط سياسية ومذهبية إذ وجد الفاطميون في هذه الأسرة خير ما يعتمد عليه كونها تعتنق المذهب الإسماعيلي وهو مذهب الدولة الفاطمية ويجمع الطرفان علاقات طيبة في أغلب مراحلها مما عزز نجاح سياسة الفاطميين الخارجية في هذه البلاد وجعلهم واثقين من الاعتماد عليهم وإنجاح سياستهم ليس في اليمن فحسب بل امتد نطاق ذلك إلى الحجاز والاحساء وهجر والهند، إذ شكَّلَ الصليحيون حليفاً مهماً للفاطميين مؤمناً بالمذهب الإسماعيلي مخلصاً في إرساء سياسة الفاطميين ما جعل الأخيرون يعتمدون عليهم بنشر الدعوة الفاطمية وإرساء سياستهم في بلادهم ودام ولاء هذه الأسرة لهم حتى نهاية دولتهم.
