The role of the principles of total quality management in improving Institutional performance in hospitals of the Basra

Abstract

This study highlights the role of the principles of TQM as an independent variable in improving institutional performance as the dependent variable in the hospitalsof Basra Health Directorate, which represents the population of the study, a field study in Al-Mawani General Hospital, which represents a sample of the study and the total number of respondents (136 workers and 136 patients). This subject was chosen from the researcher because of his attention to apply technical and solid foundations for TQM to improve the performance of these institutions، as well as recognize the reality of TQM system in place in the hospital sample، researcher has used in this study checklist accredited to the Iraqi Ministry of Health to assess the performance of their organizations in addition totwo questionnaire designed specifically for this study (questionnaire for workers and a questionnaire for patients). The study relied on primary and secondary hypotheses to role ofTQM to improve the institutional performance at thishospital، research sample through the relationship and impact and also calculated the statistical laboratory (T) of the answers contained in the questionnaires.The study foundto the following most important conclusions:1 - There is a disparity in the application of standards installed in the checklist for assessing hospital study sample. Emerged as some of the results are high and the results of other are very low whichreached in some sections to( 0%) 2 -Big weakness in the culture of TQM in both hospital staff and patients.3 - The lack of a special guide to TQM and there is no specialized technical team and holds certificates of competence in the field of work of TQM
