Biological Activity of Some Complexes of First Transition Metals Series with Salicylic Acid and Cephalexin Against Bacteria

Abstract

In previous studies for increase the biological activity of the Cephalexin, there are many studies of complexes Cephalexin with different of transition elements, In the present study including the preparation and diagnosis of a number of complexes Cephalexin with some divalent metals of first transition chain as (Cu, Co, Ni, Zn, Mn) using two moles of Cephalexin as a ligand and other complexes of one mole of Cephalexin with mole of salicylic acid as a ligand too with one mole of transition metals. Then, they are studied some physicochemical properties of these complexes to explain and illustrate the importance of inhibition of these compounds. In addition, these new complexes diagnosed using FT-IR and UV.Vis spectra and measuring the degree of melting point as well as magnetic susceptibilities. The biological activity was studied of the new prepared complexes against five types of bacteria and has given different results of resistance compared to Cephalexin.
