Evaluation of Bacterial Pollution of Sandwiches Sold in Some School Shops in Basrah

Abstract

Interesting in food safety and pollution has been increasing during the twentieth century especially in the second half due to raising of the of food poisoning effects , which became wide spread in all countries ,Causing different types of diseases. In addition to appearance of new types of bacteria. Such as E.coli which causes Hemorrhagic colitis, listeria and streptococcus .50 random samples of sandwiches ( falafel and sumbosa ) were collected during April and May (2012-2013) and in December and January (2013-2014) in order to discover some types of poisoning bacteria through Bacteriological testing which represents the total plat counts. Results are grave because they reveal the seriousness on human health. For this reason, many evidences were used to evaluate the food contaminants .For instancefecal coliform group. These above mentioned polluted foods are sold in schools cafeteria in Basra city. Their contaminants are higher than the average of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standers. Therefore eaten by students are causing various ailments such as Gastroenteritis, Sepsis and other dangerous diseases.
