A Study on Validity of Views Ascribed to Al-Zamakhshari

Abstract

In the Arabic literature, there are cases and problems that require investigation and explanation. In order to avoid any confusion and vague about them and to reveal their reality, they should be examined as accurately as possible. There are a plenty of such cases and problems in the Arabic literature which are disseminated within original and authentic books. One of these cases, which are of importance, is the views that the early and late scholars after another had attributed to Al- Zamakhshari who was attacked and criticized strongly by them. However, by referring to his books and the other references, the opposite becomes true and it is revealed that those criticisms were lack of logical supports and arguments. On the other hand, there are large discrepancies between the books narrating the quotations of scholars and those of books from which the quotations were adapted. For this reason, referring to the original books as well as to Al- Zamakhshari’s is necessitated and the scholars narrating the Al- Zamakhshari’s quotations must reflect his views methodologically in order to keep away from any confusion and bias.
