The reasons for the reluctance of the public (the audience) to attend Premier League matches of the Volleyball in the West Bank, from the players’ point of view.

Abstract

This study has aimed to show the reasons for the reluctance of the public to attend Premier League matches of the Volleyball in the West Bank from the players’ point of view. The researchers used the descriptive survey as a method of research. . According to the Palestinian Federation of Volleyball records for this season(2016), the study sample included (76) players from Volleyball players and (120) players of the Premier League in the West Bank. They have been chosen randomly. And the questionnaire has been used as a tool to collect the data. This questionnaire included five axes( the profession, the academic level, years of experience and the player’s level). The researchers used arithmetic means, percentages and standard deviation for each paragraph of the questionnaire, to answer the questions of the study. The statistical treatment for the data has been done by finding the arithmetic means and the standard deviation, in addition to the one-way analysis of variance test ( one-way ANOVA), the equation of consistence Cronbach alpha ( Cronbach Alpha ) and the ( T-test ). The results showed that there is no difference in the estimates reasons for the reluctance of the public to attend Premier League matches of the Volleyball in the West Bank from the players’ point of view according to the job, the academic level, years of experience and the player’s level. The results also showed the lack of financial incentives provided for the winning teams and for administrative and technical staff in addition to the absence of fixed budgets. The researchers recommended the necessity to focus more and better on the media aspects of the match of Volleyball and transmit the important games, especially World Cup and the Olympics. They urged the companies and the supporting institutions to sponsor the volleyball clubs as well as the team, due to the insufficient funds and the inability of the clubs and the national team to spend on the game benefits.
