Building and applying a self-esteem scale for students with hearing disabilities

Abstract

This research is restricted to the audio-handicapped who are teachable and registered in the institute of the deaf and the dumb in Babylon Governorate for the school year (2016 – 2017).The self-conformation has been measured by a scale prepared by the researcher, consisting of (40) items, after Verifying the psychometric characteristics of the scale, including trustiness ostensibly and structurally, steadfastness in two ways: reapplication and Alpha- Kronpach.In the light of two results of this research, the researcher has come to some conclusions, including: _The policy followed by the ministries is based on isolating the audio-handicapped in special institutes which has led to separating them from the society and mixing with their peers of the handicapped with no normal paradigm (a hearer) except the girl teacher who speak to them in gesture-language. This lack of mixing has led to the decline of self-conformation
