Abstract

The research aims to clarifying the Soviet position of the Islamic revolution in Iran 1979. The Soviet Union was very careful in expressing any attitude towards the Iranian revolution in its early stages, thinking that the Shah would be able to end it. The Soviet attitude continued until November 1978, when the Moscow going to changed its policy towards the Iranian revolution after realizing its strength and effectiveness. Since that, the Soviets have strongly supported the Iranian revolution, which succeeded in overthrowing the Pahlavi throne in Iran and transforming the political system there from ownership to the Republic of 1979. As a result of the Soviet's attempts to gain privileges and interests in Iran, they supported the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979, then tried to win them in their struggle against the Western magnate . However, the divergent visions and orientations between Soviet and Iranian policy prevented the realization of Soviet aims, Ultimately the Iranian government's desire to achieve the greatest degree of independence and not to be dragged behind the Soviet policies aimed at achieving more influence in the world.
