Feudalism and Land Reclamation 1958 in Iraq Journalism

Abstract

The feudalist system in Iraq is a modern phenomenon started with the British occupation (1914_1918) and was well-established during the monarchic rule (1921_1958) till the revolution of 14th of July 1958 which tried to put an end to it by redistributing the agricultural property. The land reclamation Law No.30 ، 1958 was issued ، welcomed and supported by Iraq journalism and practically followed up its application ، and identified its negative aspects .The solutions of problems which impede the application of the law were suggested through editorials ، studies and special pages. The influence of journalism was also obvious in the authority amendment of law No.30 which was replaced law No.30 ، 1960 Journalism also supported the agricultural associations law No. 39 ، 1959 . Those associations were the representative of farmers. The news ، social and professional activities of associations were followed up by Journalism specially after these associations were licensed to work . What is new in this research is the fact that it is the first study that tackles feudalism in Iraqi journalism .
