Self-centeredness among Distinguished Pupils of the Intermediate Stage

Abstract

The current study aims to know the level of self- centeredness among distinguished pupils in the intermediate stage. The researcher used the descriptive method. The sample of the research involved the distinguished pupils of the intermediate stage in the morning governmental schools which were 4 schools that belong to the two Directorates of Education/ Al- Rasafa 1 and the General Directorate education/ Diyala / Baquba. The number of the pupils was 1732 pupils. The scale was applied on 420 pupils from 3 schools and they were chosen randomly. To achieve the aim of the study, the researcher built a scale for self- centeredness which was composed of 30 items. The validity of the scale was verified through the apparent honesty and the validity of the building. Stability was extracted by means of testing and retesting and it reached to 0.84 and by using Cronbach’s Alpha of internal consistency which reached to 0.81. The data were processed by using a number of the statistical means like (T- Test for one sample, Pearson Correlation Coefficient and Cronbach’s Alpha Equation). The results show that self- centeredness increased among the sample of the study
