Banking through the Book of Imam Malik Bin Anas d.179 A.H. (Al Mudawana Al Kubra)

Abstract

Islamic religion is the most perfect and complete religion. Its Sharia included all the aspects of life. It wasn’t limited to worshiping aspects performed by Muslim individuals. It went deeper to the economic activities due to the strong connection between the spiritual and materialistic needs. So, Sharia sought to create a balance between those two aspects. Thus, we can see that many economic and financial legislations expressed the interest of Islam in economy and ensuring the decent life of its individuals and concentrated on the aspect of the relation between the individuals of a community. The process of banking is one of the activities approved by Islam but with restrictions. Its development is related to the economic activity of the state and its foreign relations. Thus, we can find that many scientists and narrators paid a lot of attention to economy and sought to illustrate it to the people. Among those scientists is Imam Malik Bin Anas (d. 179) who had a lot of works especially in economic activity.
