قانونُ التجنيدِ الإلزامي في الولايات الكونفدرالية الأمريكية 1862-1865 دوافعه، تعديلاته، وأثره في أداء المؤسسة العسكرية

Abstract

Soon after the Confederate States of America was declared, it found itself fighting a war of existence against its predecessor, from which it wished to secede. As the fighting intensified, the Confederate States of America resorted to mandatory conscription for the first time in the American history through the legislation of the compulsory recruitment law on April 16th 1862. The unfair enforcement of this law, caused by the series of exemptions and amendments that followed its enactment, brought about a nationwide heated debate. The legislation created a class disparity and destabilized the social order that existed for decades. Therefore, the legislation had become the least popular law enacted by the Confederate States of America in all its four year long reign, and had become the direct cause of its social isolation, which eventually affected it popularity and resulted in its defeat and collapse.
