The study aims to identify the reality of thework of the oil sector companies in the field of strategic thinking and environmentalchallenges and their role in achieving sustainable competitive advantage and arouse theattention of strategic leaders. In the sample of the importance of study variables.The problem of the study identified two dimensions of the first cognitive dimensionrepresented by the lack of studies in this area and the limitations of adopting these topics inIraqi organizations as they are variables characterized by modernity and need to researchand study to discover the variables in the field. The second applied dimension describes thefuture vision and strategic plan for achieving competitive advantage at present. The studywill be applied in an important field of the oil industry facing the process of change in thecurrent stage with the accumulation of the causes of neglect and lack of development andmodernization. In order to achieve the objectives of the study will be formulated a numberof hypotheses for the purpose of testing in the researched companies will be chosengentlemen general managers and their assistants and directors of departments and heads ofdepartments.In order to obtain data on the variables of the study in the future, the researcher relies on asophisticated scale suitable for the study in addition to personal interviews, and for thepurpose of analyzing the responses and testing the hypotheses of the study will use a numberof descriptive and statistical methods. In the light of the results obtained, conclusions andrecommendations could be reached.
