Iraq between the Treaties of 1930-1948 (A Historical Study)

Abstract

During the monarchy of 1921-1958, Iraq witnessed a series of treaties with Briton to organize the relationship between the two countries. The first treaty was in 1922 which turned the mandate to friendship between the two countries and followed by the treaty of 1926, which joined Mosul state to Iraq after Turkeys claim of it.The third treaty in 1927. It was mot taken by the national movement which rejected it and fell after the suicide of Abdulmohsen al-Sadoun.The fourth treaty came in 1930 to make Briton respond to Iraqis demands, to enter the league of nations and to admit its independence to be its period about 25 years.After the end of second world war and the emergence of anew international organization which represented by the united nations , the principles of this organization opposed with the provisions of the 1930 treaty.The government of saleh jiber entered into negotiations with britian to hold new treaty and succeeded in siging a new treaty in 1948.It was rejected by the Iraqi national movement.This refusal led to drop it with the ministry of Saleh Jiber months after signing it.
