(Adoption of cotton farmers in the province of Diyala to some modern agricultural methods and its relationship with some variables)

Abstract

The cotton crop of great importance for use in manufacturing processes are many and, despite the spread of cultivation of this crop in some provinces, including Diyala province, but we find productivity low compared with developed countries, and aims of this research to determine the level of adoption of the farmers of the methods of modern cultivation of this crop for this purpose has been taking a random sample of farmers amounted to (150) Farms and identified from the results that there is a fall, "the level of adoption of farmers, where there was a proportion (52%) with adoption low, while there was a proportion (29%), (19%) with adoption medium and high as shown by research that there is a correlation between the level of adoption of farmers and the level of their education as the value of the correlation coefficient Olrtba (Spearman) (0.619) level of probability 0.05, as results showed that there is no relationship between the level of adoption of farmers and the type of ownership of agricultural land as the value of the correlation coefficient (Spearman) (0.103) level of significance (0.05) and Research stated that there are several problems and difficulties impeding the adoption of cotton farmers of the methods of modern agricultural private cultivation of cotton including the difficult access to agricultural inputs (fertilizers, seeds, pesticides) to the high prices and ignorance the farmer and the lack of knowledge of prices to buy the cotton market. and recommended that research should be of interest to address shortcomings in the adoption of farmers and intensification of extension programs to farmers regarding crop and to help them through the provision of agricultural inputs at subsidized prices from the state for the purpose of increasing the adoption and increase agricultural production for this crop.
