Abstract
Historically speaking, up to the end of the 18th century, new words had been mentioned as borrowings whereas after that they began to be called neologisms, yet not all neologisms are borrowings and not all borrowings are neologisms. People call them so because such words are not very spread in the common language (Ariana, 1997: 987). In fact, neologisms are words that play a major role in the process of lexicalization.
