Effects of temperature on the efficacy of the Insect growth regulator fenoxycarb (Insegar 25 wp) against workers and soldiers of termite Microcerotermes diversus (Silv.) (Isoptera: Termatidae)

Abstract

The study was conducted to evaluate the efficiency of different concentrations of Insegar 25 wp under different temperature against termite workers and soldiers during 2006. The results showed that Insegar had high effects on termite individuals however the efficiency was effected by different temperatures. The temperature 25 , 30 + 3 oC were the best for increasing efficiency of Insegar reached 100% mortality after 35 days. Under laboratory condition, Insegar caused arrange of 89.05 – 100% mortality rate depending on concentration at exposure time of 49 days. The results also showed that Insegar with all concentrations was causing repellent and avoidance effect to termite individuals on the beginning of treatment , the low concentration (3000 ppm) had less effect than the high concentration (5000 ppm), the mortality rate 100% obtained after 70 days on low concentrations compared with 84 days on high concentrations.
