EFFECT OF FILLER PARTICLE SIZE AND CONCENTRATION ON THE MECHANICAL AND THERMAL PROPERTIES OF POLYMER COMPOSITE

Abstract

In this study unsaturated polyester(UPS) was used as a matrix for composite materials with coconut shell Particulates as a reinforcement martials. Two kinds of Particle size (53-63 )and(10-20 )were used with weight percentages (10%,20%and 30%)for both.The composite materials were estimated according to their mechanical properties included (impact strength, elastic modulus, compressive strength and of Brinell hardness) and thermal conductivity.This study showed on improvements in mechanical properties of particulate composites compared with UPS resin. The effect of each weight percentage and particle size of filler on the mechanical and thermal properties was investigated.
