Synthesis and Characterization of Fe(II) Co(II) and Ni(II) Complexes with Captopril

Abstract

Complexes of Fe(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) with captopril (CapH2) in neutral and basic media have been synthesized. The structure of the complexes has been elucidated by metal, chloride analysis, molar conductances, infrared and electronic spectra. The ligand (CapH2) exhibited in neutral medium as a tridentate coordination, with the presence of two chloride ions and one water molecule in the complexes , and the presence of three water molecules after the deprotonation of both hydrogen atoms from the ligand in a basic medium to form the most probable octahedral geometry around each metal ion.
