A simple nonlinear mathematical model for wind turbine power maximization with cost constraints

Abstract

In this paper we have proposed a nonlinearmathematical model for a wind turbine. Theobjective function maximizes the power of the windturbine and the constraints are related to the rotorand tower costs. Rotor diameter and hub height arethe variables which affect on power of the windturbine, so we have considered them as decisionvariable in our mathematical model. By increasingrotor diameter and hub height the power of theturbine will increase but the costs don’t let theinfinitive increase in rotor diameter and height. Themodel applied for a typical case study and the resultsof solving the model for it have shown in the paper.
