E-Government and the Digital Divide

Abstract

The term "digital divide" became well known in the two decades ago, to describe the gap between those who have the information and communications technology and have the ability to use it and those who haven't the information and communications technology or can not use it. The existence of digital divide inside the communities is considered as a significant obstacle to e-government initiatives.In this paper, the problem of digital divide is explored deeply. Also, its effect on e-government initiatives is discussed. A valuable recommendations and suggestions are stated for closing or overcoming the digital divide.
