Dynamics of population distribution of a threc-levcl atom interacting with two coherent fields.

Abstract

The dynarnics of the way in which atomic population isdistributed in a three-level atomic system interacting with twoexternal coherent light fields is investigated in the weakcouplingscheme. There are deep differences in the atomicpopulation distributions depending on the atomic initialconditions. The results are compared with the correspondingresults of the same atomic systern interacting witli singlequantum field exciting the upper atomic level that are availablein the literature. Tlrus, they provide a comparison with thequantum theory of atom-fleld interaction.
