Audio Data Signals Compression Using Multi-Mother Wavelet Transform

Abstract

This paper focuses on producing a new compression system for digital audio data signal .The presented compression scheme has two major components ,the first is the compression software which compresses a standard wave file audio signal , and the second which decompresses the previously compressed file and regenerates a standard audio file .A wavelet analysis is applied to decompose the data signal using many mother wavelet functions to a set of scaled and translated version of the mother wavelet. The resulted coefficients are then quantized and coded in order to achieve an efficient compression gained.The corresponding decompression algorithm is then applied to reconstruct (decompress) the compressed (coded) signal data. Finally, some criteria are used for comparing and measuring the distortion between the original (non-compressed) and reconstructed (decompressed) signal.
