Grammatical Instructions in the Quranie Readings by Al-Johari in Al-Sihah Book (The Crown of language and Sihah of Arabic)

Abstract

This research work is on the ammatical instructions provided by the Quranic Readings as cited in Johari’s Sihah. First , a brief biography of Al-Johari is presented. Then , his sources of identifying a Quranic reading as well as his introduction concerning each reading are referred to. The most important conclusion arrived at by the research worker is that Al-Johari has calculated 123 (one hundred and twenty-three) readings. He refers to both very familiar as well as the rare readings. He cites a number of Al-Akhfash’s readings and one of Ibn Sikeet. As far as the number of readings related to grammatical instruction approaches 11 only .
