The Role of Family in juvenile delinquency A Field Study in Duhok Governorate

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency is one of the social phenomena that arein existence for long . It affects both the undeveloped anddeveloped societies. Historically, there have been differentperspectives toward this problem; since a delinquent person isconvicted and must be inhibited. By developing the humanscientific view, a delinquent is classified as a normal human with allhis/her features and characteristics, but his/her conditions lead himto such headless behaviors. Accordingly, it has been decided totackle this topic in order to shed light on the role of family and itsrelations in juvenile delinquency; since the family represents thecorner stone of behaviors guidance throughout bringing up duringthe various stages of age from childhood till adulthood.As for conclusions, they are as follows:. The number of family members has a great role in juveniledelinquency; since of the subjects were related to big families.. The economic level has an obvious role in juvenile delinquency; sinceof the subjects were suffering from poverty.. The crack cases gave a fixed role in juvenile delinquency; sinceof the subjects pointed and that the marital relations were notgood. To add, parents' bad treatment had a great impact on juveniledelinquency, where of the subjects were suffering fromnegligence.. The educational level of parents had a clear impact on juveniledelinquency, where of the subjects' parents were uneducated,and of the subjects' mothers were uneducated.
