Ibn Swar Al Ashboni' Poetry: Documentation and Study

Abstract

This is an edition and study of the poetry of the Andulsian poet Ibn Swar Al Ashboni who is often compared to Omru Al Qais. However, the Andusian sources did not give this poet his due. This poet lived at the end of the 5th century AH. And the beginning of the 6th century AH. He frequented the courts of Twaef kings (sects kings) but specialized mainly in the panegyric of Beni Ashra, the aristocracy of Sala city who ransomed him from Christian capture. He was a great knight as well.This study falls into two sections: The first deals with his life , the subjects of his poetry, and his language and style. The second section is an edition of his extant poetry.
