Abstract

The research aim is to study the random settlement phenomenon within the basic scheme of Samarra city, where the random settlements separated within the scheme city neighborhoods. The research is a field study of the phenomena from two side: first to study the population, social, cultural, and economical side. Second to study the obvious reasons and results of the phenomena and there effects on the urban environment of the city. The results show that the random settlement concentrated in six districts; Aljberia first, Aljberia third, Almouthana, Alkathra, Salahdeen, and Alefraze. The reason encouraging these random settlements is the empty spaces within these district which reserve for service building, which encourage some people from the city and the outsider to overtaking these land. This is reflecting negatively on the urban environment of the city and its districts morphology. As well as dysfunction in the total services within these districts and the nearby one because of the population pressure of random settlements on these services. The research recommended that the city hall solve this problem throw absorption the random settlements to give theme small land area in the new city expansion. Also throw construct all the empty spaces within the districts which conserve for services to prohibit override these land.
