Investigation activity of agent produced by Streptomyces spp. against Clinical bacterial isolates

Abstract

Twenty of soil samples were collected from Hilla city. (8) isolates were belong to Actinomycetes spp were isolated. Six Streptomyces spp isolates were identified according to morphological characteristics. Antibacterial activity for Streptomyces spp. isolates were noted against Staphylococcus aureus. Streptomyces.4 was given higher activity with (20)mm inhibition zone against S.aureus compared with other Streptomyces isolates. Streptomyces spp.4 was gram positive and having grey aerial mycelium when cultured on yeast malt extract agar, unable for melanin producing on tyrosine broth medium. Streptomyces spp.4 having ability for using glucose, mannitol and xylose and negative for sucrose. Agent was extracted from Streptomyces spp.4.The antibacterial activity of agent was examined against (10) clinical bacterial isolates. The results showed that this agent having antibacterial activity against clinical isolates with inhibition zone ranging from (8-22)mm.
