Abstract

This research deals with the historical roots of the issue of annexation of Texas to the United States, the broad political controversy that accompanied the annexation of Congress and American public opinion process, and its impact in the presidential election of 1844 between the Democratic Party and the Whig race, and the reasons that led to the outbreak of the USA _ Mexican War in 1846 and political controversy about the decision to declare war on the US administration Mexico in the corridors of political parties and the US Congress and the US public, and the activity of the Democratic Party and the Whig Party in the defense of their positions differing from that War.
