The Influence of some Morphological and Biochemical Traits of Cotton Gossypium spp for Resistance The Two Spotted Mite Tetranychus urticae Koch

Abstract

Laboratory and field experiments were conducted to determine the Influence of some Leaves Morphological and Biochemical Traits of the more famous cotton cultivars in Iraq(Ashure, Marsomy4, Coker and Lashata) to the two spotted mite Tetranychus urticae Koch ,also determined the population density and seasonal presence to pest. The Results Showed that Coker C.V was the most infected host for Mite followed by Ashure, Lashata and Marsomy4. The Largest mean number of the Mite adult was 0.759 mite/leaf on Coker but the Lowest was 0.322 mite/leaf on Marsomy4, and the reason of this Results was to had Marsomy the least number of gossypol gland(52.14 gland/cm2 )and highest leaf area(98.21cm2), high number of hairs was 43.10 hair/cm2, the mean of lamina thickness was 0.512 micron and high gossypol concentration was0.413mg/gm. While Coker had the largest meane number of gossypol gland(66.62 gland/cm2 ),least mean of hairs number( 23.63 hair/cm2), the least leaf lamina thickness (0.444 micron) and least gossypol concentration (0. 283mg/gm).
