Abstract

The current study aims to explore the influence of the information processing levels on the ability to detect deception. This study also attempts to reveal the influence of other factors, In order to achieve that, the researcher adopted Alwan's questionnaire (2009) of Information Processing after editing it to suit the society on which the research was conducted. The researcher conducted the lie detection experiment. Prior to the experiment with the detectives who were chosen randomly (n=30), they were divided into three groups according to their levels of proficiency in information processing (n= 10 in each group). The research was concluded by a number of results. The most important of which are: The group generally had the ability to detect deception and truth, there are no substantial statistical differences between the three subgroups, and that there are substantial statistical differences in the levels of confidence concerning their judging ability for the group with the highest confidence level, In addition to other results. The researcher was also concluded with a number of suggestions and recommendations.
