Influence and language interference have gained the interest of applied linguistics in its different theoretical aspects. Some theories claim that learning a second language is influenced by the first language of the learner at the phonetic, constructional, lexical, and derivational levels. Some others state that the role of the first language is negative upon learning the second language because the native language stands as an impediment in the way of learning the target language
