Using Remote Sensing Techniques in Classifying Geomorphological Units of Al-Suleimania Basin

Abstract

The current study aims to discover the geomorphological units of the region understudy which is of (603) km2 through using remote sensing units to provide a digital and geographic database and to design Geomorphological maps that can be easily updated and accept addition. The researcher depends on the usage of the US satellite (Landsat 7t ETM), the analysis of the topographic map by the scale (1:100000), (Arc GIS 10.3) program and the library data. It is concluded that the ground units in the area were classified into three main units: Units of Structural origin (units of curved rock and units of monolithic rock), Units of tariff origin (poor land Units and sever shredding slopes) and units of sedimentation origin (Units of ventilation fans, Units of sloping aggregate plains and units of floodplains).
