The Effect of Studying School Theater on Improving Communication Skills among Students of the Department of Arts Education

Abstract

This paper aims at finding out The Effect of Studying School Theater on Improving Communication Skills among Students of the Department of Arts Education. The researcher adopted the experimental approach of one group design and two tests; pre and post. Furthermore, the sample of the study which comprised (20) individuals has been selected from students of the Department of Arts Education in the College of Fine Arts/ University of Diyala during the academic year 2015-2016. The sample members were trained to write a play text containing communication skills in the light of their studying of school theater. Moreover, the researcher set the study tool so as to measure communication skills and he, then, verified the reliability of the tool, its properties as well as its stability. The results of the study mirrored the positive effect of studying school theater on students of the Department of Arts Education.
