The Time Rhythm in Ahlam Al-Mastghanmy's Trilogy

Abstract

If the rhythm is a critic term whose effects are seen in the sound, structure, instances, and the rhyme of poetry, it will have another status in the story art . This appears in a special narrative technique or a various number of practical procedures presented wholly or partially in the text. It creates an inspiration on the reader in a narration rapidity which is corresponded or different or contrastive between the time of the tale and the time of the story. Accordingly, this research entitled (The time Rhythm in Ahlam Al-Mastghanmy's Trilogy) attempts to study the narration speed in the trilogy novel (The Body Memory , Bed Passenger, and Senses Chaos ) through four narration techniques , which are deletion, summarizing (in the acceleration of narration), pausing and scene ( in the slowing the narration). The research includes an introduction, two chapters, an end, and a list of the references and sources. Some of the most important results arrived at by the research are: the acceleration of narration is done through the contraction of the event happened in years or months on pages or in a few lines or even in words without mentioning details. The modern novels are characterized by the rapidity through the implicit cut which the writer does not state but the reader can recognize it only through the comparison of the events with the evidence of the narration itself. The scenes of the time rhythm in the trilogy do not occur in separation from the narration construction of the text. Whereas, they are part that is homogeneous with all the elements of the novel having artistic functions such as discovering the characters' psychological habits and the presentation of the intensive moments pushing the events towards the development and the end. Also, the conversational scene has a great role in the delusion of the reality through the movement and the spontaneity reflected by the narration scene.
