A new look at the goal of Sultan Mahmud II in summoning Russian troops to Istanbul in 1833 | A study of the Ottoman archives

Abstract

Sometimes the historical account of some of the historical events of a new perspective of these events is the recall of Sultan Mahmud II of the Russian forces to Istanbul, capital of the Ottoman Empire, in 1833. So far, what has been reported on this subject came from the European archives, which bore some historical prejudices. Indeed, the obvious way to do this is by reviewing the records of the Ottoman archives. These records document the instructions of Sultan Mahmud II to his diplomats and reports, and show the Ottoman diplomatic effort during the problem of Muhammad Ali Pasha. This research aims to follow in detail the intention of the true Sultan Mahmoud II of calling the Russians to the Ottoman lands.
