Teaching physics to the fourth scientific graders using Palinscar & Brown method and its effect on their achievement and logic intelligence

Abstract

This research aims to identify the effect of physics teaching for fourth grade Students using Palinscar & Brown method in their achievement and logic intelligence, the research was limited to the Students of Al- Jamhuria preparatory school affiliated to the General Directorate for the education of the Rusafa-2 for the second semester of the academic year 2017-2018 , The sample of the research was chosen intentionally and two classes were chosen randomly from the fourth preparatory class ,the number of the Students were ( 83 ), ( 41 ) of the Students from the experimental group which was taught by the using of Palinscar & Brown method and ( 42 ) Students in the control group was toughed in usual method, The two groups of the research were equivalent in some variables that affect the independent variable ( the intelligence scale degree ( Otees – Lenun ) , the previous information test and logic intelligence scale degree. The educational materials were selected from the physics book of the fourth scientific grade chapter ( 7,8,9,10 ) , behavioral objectives were selected which reached to ( 120 ). As for the tool of the research, the first tool was , the researcher prepared the achievement test consists of ( 40 ) objectivity paragraph of multiple choice and the characteristics psychometric properties, The Reliability was found by using Keord- Richardson 20 equation, The total ( 0.80 ) but the second tool was logic intelligence. The scale consists of ( 32 ) items and the scale validity was verified depending on face validity ,logic validity and construction validity and its Reliability was found by retest way. Reliability coefficient was ( 0.82 ).After finishing the experiment both the achievement test and logic intelligence scale were applied on two groups and after analysis the results statistically by using ( t-test ) to the two independent samples which are different in numbers in addition.The results showed that the experimental group which has been studied according to Palinscar & Brown method ,Excelled at the control group which has been studied according to usual method. The results refered to refusing the first and the second two zero hypotheses, According to mentioned above , the researcher developed a number of conclusions, recommendation and suggestion.
