The Iraqi jwes in Israel.

Abstract

The research talks about the Jews of Iraq after their immigration to Israel and the bad conditions they had lived through, which the Israeli officials tried to justify by stressing that the immigrants are less civilized than the modern state that they had arrived to , so they were incapable of integrating , this argument can be refute by clarifying the Jews political, sociological and economic status in the country that they had departed – Iraq- and by showing the degree of modernization of the state that had settled in . We also tries to show the effect of the new conditions on the integration of Iraqi Jews in the new state , there were people – who believed in Zionism – able to integrate right from the beginning , others needed longer time to adapt , and lived a contradicted life between their Sephardic identity and the new one that they should adapt with – Ashkinasim-but by the end they managed to do so , the thing that some were incapable of doing so they kept their original identity and refused the new one .
