Effect of the Parameters of Electric Discharge machining On the Recast Layer Thickness.

Abstract

Results have indicated that recast layer thickness increases with pulse duration increase ,As for dielectric pressure ,it was found that as it increases up to 150 MPa Carbide removal rate increases , While recast layer thickness decrease ,as a result. However, further increase of dielectric pressure to 250 MPa causes recast layer thickness increase. Results regarding electrode tip radius showed that as radius increases carbide removal is increased. As for tip angle for carbide GT30 results have indicated that increasing the angle causes an increase of recast layer thickness.
