Measuring The Level of Anxiety in Old People Staying at the State Institution and its Relation to Sex, Age and Social Status

Abstract

The paper aims at measuring the levels of anxiety in old People staying at the state institution and its relation to sex, age and social status. The paper was applied on a sample of old people that consists of three groups. The first one represent those who are from 60 to 69 old. The second group are those who are 70 to 79 and the third group are those who are 80 and up.The researchers use the following instruments:1-A questionnaire.2-Anxiety scale, translated by Mustafa Fahmy 1974.3-Death anxiety scaly by Ahmed Abdul Khaliq 1987. The paper has arrived at the following:1-There are no differences among old people concerning general anxiety or death anxiety concerning sex.2-Age has an effect on anxiety with 72.277 f Value.3-Retired old people have higher anxiety than working ones.4-Those who are over 70 have higher anxiety towards death anxiety than those who are 60-69. The study recommends the establishment of social clubs to increase the social interaction of old people.
